Readers are distracted by extra verbs, even small ones like is and was.

This is a formal announcement of the adjective, chosen. Try not to do that.

or, perhaps:

Often, the adjective announced is a longer phrase.

The website that was selected by the committee was designed by our team.

The website selected by the committee was designed by our team.

Sometimes removing the announcement requires rewriting the sentence.

The website that was most responsive was designed by our team.

The most responsive website was designed by our team.

These announcements are also begun with the relative pronoun which and the impersonal pronoun it.
